Writing / Text

.

The confrontation with language, the forming of words in the mouth has already occupied me during my studies. I playfully tested and documented the perception and performance of spoken and written words and sentences, the location of text in public space. It led me in 2005 to the idea of going to a European country for half a year, whose language I do not know.

In a self-experiment, I observed how a new language begins to connect tangibly in my head.
From 2009 I worked more performatively, so that title and performance were doubly linked – because the title already forms an idea, whereby I preferred to work with the opposites.

Text installation on 8 neon lights

Kulturverein ART Driburg e.V. in der Reihe FORUM JUNGE KUNST – Hochschulen stellen sich vor. May-August 2009

curated by Prof. Helga Kämpf-Jansen, Prof. Manfred Blohm and Prof. Christine Heil

about

The light text installation consists of eight neon tubes lying on music stands. In an opposite row, four tubes are arranged at eye level. The translucent of purple small caps and letters destroyed by cracks illuminates the lightless space.

The destroyed words prevent a quick grasp of the sentence, so that there is no whole text as an end product. The reader fills in the gaps and the fragmented content himself and invents possible words that make „sense“ to him in this context.

Text in german and a try to english translation:

„Light“

Offside the reason on concreted paths slides light unconcerned thoughts to the big whole

“being”

Glistening moonlight dodges around shady contours of being

“Whiff”

A tepid whiff swings onto a sigh into the width, carries onto them the knowledge about nothing

“LEICHT“

ABSEITS DER VERNUNFT AUF BETONIERTEN PFADEN GLEITEN LEICHT UNBEKÜMMERTE GEDANKEN AN DAS GROßE GANZE

“DASEIN“

GLEIßENDES MONDLICHT UMSPIELT SCHATTIGE KONTUREN DES DASEINS

“HAUCH“

EIN LAUER HAUCH SCHWINGT AUF EINEM SEUFZER IN DIE WEITE, TRÄGT AUF SICH DAS WISSEN UM NICHTS

2004 | Eros in Rose

Ausstellung „Bin im Garten“ im Rosengarten, Landschaftsmuseum Unewatt (bei Flensburg) 2004

For the exhibition „Bin im Garten“ I have developed a text and sound installation entitled „Eros in Rose“. The starting point of the exhibition were passages that were to be selected from the Bible and which I deconstructed and reassembled. The exhibition took place in the garden of the Unewatt Landscape Museum.

The text installation consisting of four parts applied to price tags.
The repetition of individual vowels can be read as an exaggerated intonation of the word. Thus, they „sound“ in the head.

In each of the four beds, an audio installation with cassette recoders could also be heard, in which the deconstructed passage was spoken and audible in various intonations.

2003 – 2006 | catching sentences

„Sätze fangen“ (catching sentences) was the beginning of a 3-years research period. I caught fragments of sentences in public spaces. Afterwards I gave them a new „place“ and pointed or stuck them in other different public spaces. I was interested in what happened to the word in changing contexts.

Later I started to play with the writing notation so it became kind of a graphic book.
